Time to continue our quest to visit every thrift store in Colorado Springs! This time we’ll take a look at the thrift store that’s run by Sunrise Church at the corner of Woodmen and Rangewood.
This thrift store is run by Sunrise Church and is open Thursday through Saturday. Finally, I actually remembered to go when they were open, and I’m glad I did!
I’d say this store is mostly clothing, though they did have a small amount of housewares, furniture, and a decent sized book section. Their pricing was great – I spotted women’s jeans and pants from $2 to $4. I totally would have bought a nice pair of jeans for two bucks if I’d had cash with me!
They had a fair amount of coats and jackets, the highest of which I saw was about $5, though I didn’t look at all of them. There was a rack of men’s dress pants, and I don’t know what it was about it but it made me wonder if other thrift stores carry men’s dress pants? Because I can’t picture it.
I think I noticed the dress pants because they were very neatly organized. I saw one pair that still had the Dillard’s price tag on it. Might be worth a trip if you need men’s dress pants! Oh yes, and the men’s jeans were organized by waist size. When was the last time you saw that at a thrift store?
I especially loved that all the kids’ clothes were sorted by size. It made browsing so much easier, especially since I had my three kids with me. One drawback is that they don’t have carts, which isn’t a problem if you remember to bring the stroller. I didn’t, ack. I wasn’t able to take notes like I usually like to do since I was trying to keep my kiddos from de-shelving everything!
I was pretty impressed with the quality of the kids’ clothes. Overall, all the clothes in the store were good quality, but the kids’ clothing was all especially nice – I didn’t see anything with stains or fading or that stretched-out look. Plus, did I mention it was organized by size? Not like “baby” and “toddler”, but “3 months”, “6 months”, “12 months”, etc.
Pricing on the kids clothes varied – I saw items from 50¢ to around $3. It seemed a little bit inconsistent on some things. I didn’t check the pricing on the clothes for sizes 6 and up, but I would imagine it was in that same range, since they didn’t even have many adult clothes that were above $4-5.
They had some books and toys…
And a small furniture section. I believe their website states that because of space, they don’t accept donations for larger furniture like sofas, but they did have some smaller pieces.
Now, when I was there a couple of weeks ago, all clothing was 50% off – they were trying to clear things out to make room for spring merchandise. You may want to give them a call to see if they’re still doing this sale. The 50% off sale totally made things cheaper than garage sales! In fact, if you’re out garage saling on a Friday or Saturday morning and get tired of driving around wasting gas looking for a deal, I’d stop here and see what they have.

Carrie’s Take
What was good:
- Very well organized – all clothes were neatly organized by size.
- Prices were great, overall. Cheaper than some garage sales!
And not-as-good:
- No major drawbacks here. Not a huge furniture or housewares section if that’s what you go to thrift stores for.
