Announcement: time for a coupon exchange!

Published March 22, 2010 by Carrie in Expired

Got pets but not kids in diapers?  Brand-loyal to a few items that you buy whether or not they’re on sale?  Can’t seem to get enough coupons for your favorite brand of hair care but have tons extra for the brands you don’t use?  Gather up your extra coupons and come meet up at Jason’s Deli on North Academy on Tuesday, March 30th at 6:30 PM and we’ll have a coupon exchange and dinner (if desired) and have a chance to get to know each other “in real life”.

Here’s a couple of things I’d suggest doing to prepare for the exchange: make a list of the coupons you want, and make several copies of it.  It can be specific, like “$3 off 1 Huggies”, or just general, like “diaper coupons”.  Then when you’re at the exchange, you can show people your list and they can look at their coupons to see if they have anything you want to trade.

You can also bring a bag of coupons you don’t want.  As I’ve been clipping coupons, I’ve clipped the ones I don’t want and set them aside.  At the exchange, we can start several of these piles going around the table and you can take from the pile and add to it.

If you clip and file by category, you’ll probably want to bring your box so that you have access to all the coupons you want to exchange, even if you’ve pulled out the ones you think you’ll want to trade.

If you file by insert, I’m not sure of the best way to do it, but you’ll probably want to have access to a list (either printed out or on your phone/laptop) of what coupons are in what inserts so that when someone says they’ll trade you pet food coupons for diapers, you’ll know which of your inserts have diapers in them.

Also, if you find someone who doesn’t want the coupons you want and who wants the coupons you don’t want, you may want to consider being prepared to exchange mailing addresses with them in you’re comfortable doing that.  It’s nice to have a trading partner that you know what they like and they know what you like and you can just exchange coupons via mail.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday the 30th at 6:30 PM at Jason’s Deli on North Academy!  If you could please email me at springsbargains@gmail.com and let me know if you’re planning on coming so that I can have an approximate head count, that would be awesome.

Hope to see you there!
