Yeehaw! Get your coupons ready to head to Safeway for the awesome frozen food promo this month! Let’s get right to the deals, there are a lot of them.
Remember that all Safeways in Colorado double coupons – here’s the [SWpolicy] for more information on that.
Frozen Food Promotion
Purchase $25 in participating frozen food products and save $10 on your next order. The $10 will come in the form of a catalina (checkout coupon) and may say “good on your next frozen food purchase”. The best way to work this deal is to buy $25 in products, earn a $10 catalina, and then use that $10 catalina to go purchase another $25 of frozen food products and earn another $10 catalina. Wash, rinse, and repeat as many times as you like until the promo ends!
Most items should be marked in the store with a special tag notating that they are participating products; however, when I was in Safeway on Sunday they had not changed any of the tags. Hopefully they’ve done so by now!
This promotion runs through March 30th, so there is lots of time to collect coupons and score deals! In the past with promotions like this, some/many of the prices stay the same throughout the entire period, while others may only be good for a week or two. Check the sale tag for an end date so you know how long the sale price lasts.
Below I’ve listed participating products that are in the ad. There are lots more included in-store, so be sure to check back for updates here in the post and also in the comments section.
Your $25 total will be before manufacturer’s coupons, but after Safeway store discounts and store coupons, if applicable.
Since $10 of $25 is 40%, I’m going to give you a net cost at checkout, after sale discounts and coupons, and then a net cost after catalina, which I’ll figure at a savings of 40%. Remember that in order for this promo to give you 40% savings, you will need to spend right at $25 – spend more and your percentage starts to go down. Of course it will be difficult to spend exactly $25, but try to get as close as possible.
Also, I know many of you won’t have the same coupon if you haven’t been receiving the newspaper for as long as I have. In that case, you’ll need to make the call as to whether or not it’s a great deal without a coupon, but in many cases, it is since $10 of $25 is a 40% savings on top of any other sale savings.
If you are trying to find out what insert a coupon came in, please use the Coupon Databases link at the bottom of this (and every store’s) post.
I just contacted Safeway to ask for a complete list of products, and they told me this: “While the items should be clearly marked at the store, the Store Manager has a printed list available to be viewed if the items are not marked.” Not sure they have a list in-store that they are prepared to give out to customers, but if there is a discrepancy, the master list in-store is what’s going to rule.
This is the type of shopping trip I recommend you don’t take kids with, if possible, and keep track of your running total on paper or on your phone as you place stuff in the cart!
Note: prices have changed throughout the promo. I’ve updated some, but please check the ad at the tags in-store for the latest prices.
