Military moms giving birth while their husband is deployed can receive free doula services from Operation Special Delivery! A doula is a labor assistant dedicated to assisting the mom during labor, delivery, and postpartum. I can’t imagine giving birth without my husband; I’m sure the recipients of this service are wildly grateful!
Thanks to local doula Candice for passing this along. Candice was my midwife’s assistant at my last two births, and I hope she’s able to be there for the birth of our fourth baby! I just realized that I’m not sure we’ve ever met when I’ve not been in labor – since she was my midwife’s assistant and not my personal doula, we never met before the birth. That’s Candice on the right in the above picture.
