So you can drop off old paint and chemicals at the El Paso County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, where they’ll dispose of them for free, which is nice. But, Susan said you can also “shop” for free from the “Drop and Swap Shelves”! In the interest of re-using items instead of just disposing of them safely, they’ll allow you to take usable paint and chemicals for free, provided you follow these guidelines:
- Any citizen of El Paso or Teller County over the age of 18 can take any of the products offered on the Drop & Swap shelves.
- All products are free.
- Every effort is made to offer only clean, usable products on the Drop & Swap shelves, but we CANNOT GUARANTEE the integrity, safety, usability, or effectiveness of the products you take.
- If you take products from the Drop & Swap shelves, you do so at your own risk and you must sign a Release Form.
Sounds like an adventerous way to do a cheap painting project!
You can do the “drop and swap” at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 3255 Akers Drive. Thanks, Susan!
