Update: now Sears is saying gift cards are OK. Blargh.
Update: various blogs are now reporting that Sears Customer Service is saying you cannot use a gift card to pay for this deal and get the rebate. Buyer beware – who knows what it will actually end up as, but pay cash or credit/debit just to be sure. As Rachel said, Sears and Kmart are owned by the same company and have a lot of similarities with these types of promotions going sour!
Did you read about the Sears Father’s Day rebate deal? It’s returned from last year – spend $50 on men’s apparel at Sears through June 20th, submit this rebate to get $50 in Sears Come Back Cash, valid on men’s apparel. Make sure you read the fine print to ensure you submit the rebate properly. The biggest stipulation is that it excludes Land’s End apparel.
It’s an awesome deal, and if you shop online, you can make it even sweeter. Here’s a couple of ways to save even more on this deal through online rebate programs.
Shop with Ebates and get 4% cash back:
- Go to Ebates and search for “Sears”. Click their link to shop through their rebate program and earn 4% cash back.
- Spend $55 on men’s apparel at Sears.com.
- Use coupon code SEARS5OFF50 to save $5 on your purchase of $50 or more.
- Submit the $50 Come Back Cash rebate. Come Back Cash is valid on men’s apparel at Sears.
- Earn 4% cash back from Ebates ($2.00 if you spend exactly $50). If you’re a new signup to Ebates, you’ll also get a $5 bonus!
At the end, you’ll have $105 in clothing and will have spent just $48 for it (or, $43 if you’re a new Ebates member)!
Shop with [shopathome] and get 5% cash back:
- Go to [shopathome] and search for “Sears”. Click their link to shop through their rebate program and earn 5% cash back.
- Spend $55 on men’s apparel at Sears.com.
- Use coupon code SEARS5OFF50 to save $5 on your purchase of $50 or more.
- Submit the $50 Come Back Cash rebate. Come Back Cash is valid on men’s apparel at Sears.
- Earn 5% cash back from [shopathome] ($2.50 if you spend exactly $50). If you’re a new signup to [shopathome], you’ll also get a $5 bonus!
At the end, you’ll have $105 in clothing and will have spent just $47.50 for it (or, $42.50 if you’re a new [shopathome] member)!
Free shipping?
They’re advertising free shipping, but the details stipulate that shipping is free on orders of $75 or more. I think you’d still come out ahead if you shop online, earn cash back, and use the $5 off $50 coupon code.
If you really wanted to work this deal, you could buy a Sears gift card at King Soopers or Safeway and earn the gas reward points for the gift card and use it for this deal. Whew, hats off to you if you go to all that work!
Got any other tips on how to make this deal rock? Does my math check out OK? :)
