Free family event: Labor Day hot air balloon festival

This weekend is the annual hot air balloon festival in Memorial Park!  You can head down on Saturday and Sunday nights for the Balloon Glo, when the balloon teams fire up the balloons at dusk for a beautiful display, and watch the balloons launch early on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday mornings.  It’s free unless you buy concessions!  More info on this event here.

Our family got up a 6:30 AM last year to go to this event – and said it was worth it.  That’s sayin’ something!  And that was even after we headed down to the Balloon Glo on Sunday night, found out it was cancelled due to rain that had stopped, and locked our keys in the car and paid $100 to get them out.  We’re hoping to avoid those situations this year!

Last year a lot of people brought picnic breakfasts to enjoy while the balloons launched.  We may do that next year if we can get the whole family out of bed on time!
