Chapel Hills Mall: receive discounts through a shopping app

If you’ve got a smartphone, you might be interested in this: Chapel Hills Mall now has an app that is supposed to alert you to deals and discounts at its stores!

The app is called Empulse Live and is available for Android, Blackberry,  and Windows Mobile (um, no iPhone?!).  It claims to be an “intelligent agent that searches your surroundings to find you the best bargains.”  It appears that you’ll need to check-in or something when you get to the mall, as the phone “uploads information from beacons placed at mall entrances”.

I don’t have a smartphone, so I have no idea if this is actually a bargain hunter’s dream or just another not-so-useful app.  If you download it and try it, leave a comment and let us know how it works!
