Duracell batteries are on sale for $1.98 at King Soopers, and with the coupon for $1.50/1 in last Sunday’s inserts, they’re a smokin’ hot deal at $0.48 per package – but, it could get better!
Yesterday I purchased three packages of batteries and got a catalina advertisement with this info: spend $15 in Duracell Batteries from 11/07/10 through 12/04/10, get a coupon for $3 on your next order.
Now, here’s the deal: King Soopers has a limit of three coupons of like items per customer, per transaction. So, you could use more than three $1.50/1 coupons if you have them, but you have to buy different items (ie, three packages of AAs and three packages of 9V).
Is It A Better Deal Without The Catalina?
Anyway, so here’s how it would work with just three coupons:
Buy eight packages at $1.98 each
Use three $1.50/1 Duracell Batteries 11/14/2010 – RP Insert
Net cost at checkout: $11.34
Net cost after catalina: $8.34 or $1.04 per package
However, since they’re on sale for $1.98 each, if you disregarded the catalina deal and just purchased one for every coupon you have, they’re $0.48 per package, which is cheaper than doing the catalina deal. So, it just depends on how many batteries you need, I guess!
There’s also a King Soopers e-coupon for $1 off a package of 8 or more Duracell batteries if you can find a good way to work the deal with the larger packages.
Rumors!
Another note – I’ve heard rumors that this catalina deal is counting the regular shelf price, not the sale price. There’s not really a good way to verify it without trying it, and if it isn’t true and you don’t buy $15 after sale price, you miss out on the catalina.
Don’t miss the rest of this week’s King Soopers deals!
Anyway. So, there’s an awful lot of details on a $3 catalina deal. ;) Leave a comment if you do it and let us know how you worked the deal and if it came out like you hoped!
Another note, just in case you need it: the catalina “deal number” is 00980 71102 12326 0970 9550 0128. If you have trouble with it not printing, you can contact the Catalina company and they should be able to send you the coupon via mail. (You don’t necessarily have to have the number, but sometimes it’s helpful.)
