Let’s chat: do you “do” stockings?

Stockings are traditionally recognized as the “original” Christmas gift, though in most homes they now take a backseat to boxes and bags of gifts.  I guess the stuff we want these days is much too big for a stocking of any size!

I’m curious if your family does stockings, and if so, what types of things do you put in them? Do you do stockings along with the rest of the gifts on Christmas morning, or are they a Christmas Eve tradition?  Got a tip for filling stockings frugally?
