I went to Walmart last night, and the same thing that happens every. single. time happened again last night.
I was shocked at their prices. If you think you are saving money by shopping at Walmart, please do some price comparisons and I think you’ll find that you are not. Yes, their “every day low prices” on items are lower than most other grocery stores every day prices – but just by shopping the sale ads at the other stores, you will save a ton of money over Walmart’s prices. No coupons necessary!
Anyway, I went to Walmart because we were out of food, and no one else’s sales looked attractive to me or included the things we needed. I figured I’d share a few of the prices of things I bought just in case you happen to be wondering how they compare right now.
- Great Value Butter – $2.98
- Meadow Gold Buttermilk (half gallon) – $2.67
- Hillshire Farms Smoked Sausages – $2.98
Don’t ask why I bought these when I already had 2 in the frig. - Bananas – $0.52/lb
- Great Value Pasta – $0.82
I think this was actually marked $1.00 at the shelf, otherwise I might have bought more than three. - All brands of 2 liters – $1.25
- Great Value Sour Cream (24 oz) – $1.78
- Meadow Gold Half-and-Half – $2.73
Really wanted heavy cream but it was more than 3x the price! - Clabber Girl Baking Powder – $1.47
- Polaner Simply Fruit – $1.77
- Frigo Ricotta Cheese (32 oz) – $3.82
- Great Value Milk – $2.34
These are the prices that were at the Walmart on Woodmen and Powers. Curious if you happen to know prices at other local Walmarts, as I know some have said they vary around town.
Also, this particular Walmart had a ton of stuff on clearance, especially in the garden center. Nothing that was too amazing of a markdown, but they did have a lot of plastic storage containers and organizers on sale.
Those round tubs on the bottom shelf were $5.00, down from just $5.97 but it seemed like a pretty decent deal, even if it wasn’t that much of a markdown.
