What To Make With What’s On Sale: Fresh Strawberries

It’s Friday — time for What To Make With What’s On Sale!  We’re not quite into strawberry season yet, but fresh strawberries are on sale for $1.27/lb at Sunflower Market this week, or for $1.90/lb at King Soopers.  I’m excited to have a little taste of summer in the middle of winter!

Here are some tasty ideas for using fresh strawberries!

When I have lots of strawberries on hand, one of my favorite ways to use them is in strawberry sauce or jam.  Ina Garten’s Easy Strawberry Jam recipe is just that — easy!  It’s delicious too (and it works just fine if you leave out the apple and blueberries.)

This 5-star Supreme Strawberry Topping is simple to make as well.  It’s great for topping waffles, pancakes, yogurt, ice cream and cheesecake!

Strawberries are a yummy compliment to green salads too!  The sweet strawberries in this easily adaptable Spring Salad balance the crunchy veggies.

I’m definitely going to try this recipe for Avocados with Strawberry Salsa and Crispy Tortilla Chips (although food presentation isn’t something I typically spend much time on, so I’ll likely just make the salsa, add diced avocado, and serve it with tortilla chips!)
