Recently on Facebook, we asked what you would consider a standard rate for babysitting pay in Colorado Springs. Here’s a sampling of the responses we got:
My sitter charges $10/hr but she comes to my home. I think it’s a steal!
$12 an hour for four kids at my house
We don’t use a sitter too often, but when we do I pay $6-7 per hour for two kids, and I always round up and give a little “tip” in addition. I expect her to play with my children, and hopefully the toys and dishes are picked up when we get home!
I pay $10 for my five kids. The oldest two are almost to the point they don’t need a sitter but need someone at the house. I also pay a little bit more depending on their age.
$10/hr for three kids – one with significant challenges, too.
$8/ hour, two kids, age 4 & 2, she drives herself, and I always round up. She is Red Cross certified. She’s family though, my boys’ auntie, and watches them for free sometimes too.
$7-10/ hr for three kids – higher pay if sitter drives.
On the rare occasion that I hire someone, I go with the teens from church and aim for abt $7/hr. I would do more if we could afford it. That’s for 5 children 3-12.
$7 – $10/hr for 3 kids. We pay on the higher end if they are older & drive themselves over.
I have 5 and pay $5-8/hr. It depends on what is going on. $5 is if they are sleeping. I think thats plenty for 1 kid too. Mine keep coming back anyway and I have more! I’ll give a tip though if they clean or do any other extras.
If you live in Colorado Springs, what do you pay your babysitters?
