Shelby sent this in recently:
Hi! I just wanted to give readers a heads up ThredUp.com, a great website that I found about a year ago. I’m sure some of them have already heard about it, but I wanted to get the word out to the ones who haven’t. They used to be a clothes swapping site, but since there was a lack in participation, they went straight consignment.
I’m quite happy about that as the old method was that you had to send a box of gently used clothes to purchase a box. Since I was saving all of my daughter’s clothes for a possible second girl in the future, my participation was limited. The only reason I was able to buy a box a year ago was because they were running a special for new customers. Other than that, I was restricted from purchasing unless I sent a box.
Anyhow, since they just recently went straight consignment, anybody can get on the website and purchase gently used clothes. You can even sell your kiddo’s clothes. They either pay you, or you get a thredup credit. Can’t remember the rules on that.
The clothes are of great quality. Some of them still have the tags on them. They inspect their clothes pretty thoroughly. I just bought my daughter a bunch of summer clothes for her, and anything over $30 is free shipping! The sizes range from newborn to size 18.
Thanks for the info, Shelby! I hadn’t realized that ThredUp had changed their model of business, so this was interesting to read. You can get a free $5 credit towards your first purchase when you sign up through a referral link like this one, and if you refer friends, you get a $5 credit when they make their first purchase.
Have any of you used the new ThredUp.com?
