It’s time for What To Make With What’s On Sale! Sales are a bit slow this week, but there are a few good deals to be found, like E-Z peel raw shrimp (41/50 ct) for $3.99/lb at Sprouts.
Adding shrimp to a meal gives extra flavor and makes it feel more special. I like to keep shrimp in the freezer and pull out a few when I feel like dinnertime needs a boost! Here are six recipe ideas for using shrimp:
Paula Deen’s simple Potato Soup with Shrimp looks like a great cold weather dish. But, since our Colorado winter is taking its time getting here, try this delicious warm weather dish — Mexican Shrimp Cocktail. The recipe calls for shrimp, avocado, and tomato as the main ingredients. (Avocados and roma tomatoes are a great price at Sprouts this week, too!)
This Cajun Jambalaya is another tasty recipe with shrimp as the main ingredient. It calls for chicken and sausage as well, but the dish tastes just fine with only shrimp!

Here’s an easy dinner idea that tastes like you slaved over it — Shrimp Scampi. The shrimp is quickly cooked with garlic, butter, and white wine. Try serving it with a salad and crusty bread, pasta, or rice.
Honey Walnut Shrimp, a regular on Chinese restaurant menus (and one of my favorites) can be made at home with just a few ingredients. I haven’t yet tried this recipe, but I like that it uses less mayonnaise than other versions I’ve seen.
Ina Garten’s Roasted Shrimp and Orzo is a side dish that’s a sort of pasta salad. Several reviewers mentioned that rice (especially jasmine) made a good substitute for the orzo.
What’s your favorite way to serve shrimp?
