Here’s a conversation that my 5yo had with her older brother and dad recently:
5yo: “Brother, do you agree with me or Daddy?”
7yo Brother: “You.”
5yo (to Jeremy): “He has to say that so I’ll be nice to him.”
Ha! It’s been so fun to see their relationships developing as they get older. I think most of my kids will have some pretty strong negotiation skills by the time they’re all grown up, with the way they are constantly negotiating trades and favors with each other! I try not to interfere unless it’s obvious that one of the younger ones is getting the really short end of the stick. Of course, the older ones are also getting good at convincing the younger ones that it’s a good deal for them, hehe.
Well, if you’ve been reading here for awhile, you know that I am always this close to purchasing a Sam’s Club membership, but up to this point, I’ve resisted by just shopping on the days that they allow non-members to shop. But, as long as God wills that my planned trip to Sam’s tomorrow indeed happens, I will officially be a card-carrying Sam’s Club member! I’ll have to write a post about why I’m finally becoming a member and how I plan to shop. I’m really excited, but I’ll have to share more about why in a different post.
I think we’ve been going through a very mild bout of the flu at our house. The 2yo was sick, then the 3yo was sick, then an older kid had stomach issues, and then yesterday I got hit with chills and stomachache for about half a day. In retrospect, Jeremy says he thinks he had it last week, but it was mostly while he was sleeping and he’d thought it was probably something he ate.
All in all, I am so grateful that God saw fit to bless us with a 12-hour bug (yes, I consider even that a blessing considering what it could have been!). We don’t get sick very often, but when someone does get sick, I’m always on pins-and-needles while we wait to see if everyone’s going to get it or it’s just a one-person thing. It can take a long time for an illness to work its way through seven people, and I am very grateful that we’ve been mostly really healthy over the past couple of years. God, if you can just please continue that blessing until everyone knows how to hit the throw-up bucket, that would be awesome. ;)
May all of your flu bugs be twelve-hour ones!
