I’m writing this at 4 AM because
I’m taking part in one of the early-rising challenges going on in the blogosphere I woke up with the baby at 3:15 and couldn’t go back to sleep. Four AM is not an hour I see often – neither is 5 AM or even 6 AM, to be honest (except on Wednesdays, I usually try to get up earlier to finish the grocery ads (my assistant, Hannah, does them on Tuesday night and I add the ratings and publish on Wednesday morning).
I have high hopes of someday having a consistent time that I get up, but honestly, it’s pretty much not going to happen for me until I start sleeping through the night consistently. (It’s my kids that are the issue, not me. Well, actually, I do have an issue because lately I’ve been having trouble going to back to sleep!) Every now and then I see one of those early-rising challenges going on on blogs here or there, and feel guilty that I don’t get up before 7 AM usually, but then I remind myself that the people leading those challenges usually have kids who are older and probably actually sleep through the night most nights! Anyway, I’m mostly saying this to encourage any other mom that feels guilty about not getting up early that if it’s not a good season of life for that, it’s OK – that season will come. At least I hope it will?! :)
The kids have been sick with what I think is some sort of respiratory flu. It started on Friday with one kid and has been working its way through. We missed church and Easter dinner on Sunday and I’m starting to think I might need to cancel our events on Thursday and Friday, too, as a couple of the kids still have a slight fever and several have coughs. I can’t complain too much – we have had very, very little illness over the past couple of years so I suppose it’s about time we got hit with something good. I’m just thankful that it’s not the throwing-up kind of flu!
Hmm. Well, there isn’t much else to say – the kids haven’t done or said anything amusing while they’ve been sick, which I’m starting to really miss!
