Daily Chatter: 5/23/13

Published May 23, 2013 by Carrie in Expired, Home & Family

Once we move, we’ll be on well water and septic for the first time in our married lives.  I realized the other day that this could be a huge learning curve for me, so if you have experience with well water and septic systems, please share your tips!  (Keep the horror stories to a minimum, please, so as not to cause me to worry. ;)  I think laundry is my big question right now – no clue if the water will be hard or soft or what, and I’m thinking that could really change how I do laundry.  Or is it not a big deal?  Please help me!

iron

So, how many of you iron on a regular basis?  I was talking to my sister the other day and mentioned I was ironing, and she said “I thought I was the only one that ironed these days!”  I don’t iron a ton of stuff, but I iron all of Jeremy’s dress shirts and have for as long as we’ve been married.  I shy away from stuff that needs to be ironed for myself and the kids (curse you, rolly-uppy hems on girls’ skirts!), but both Jeremy and I like his dress shirts pressed so I’ll do that to my dying day.

Speaking of ironing, my oldest said that we should hire a servant when we move because the house is big – and he suggested paying the servant $1.00 a day.  I don’t think the house is big enough to warrant a servant but if we can find one for $1.00 a day, I’d totally take the help! Maybe I should ask him if he wants the job…

This morning reminded me so much of the day of the first trip that Jeremy and I took to Colorado Springs, right after we were married.  We came in at night, during a horrible storm, and stayed at a hotel that we are now like, “Hmm, probably wouldn’t stay there now!”  The next day was foggy and cool, like this morning was, and we drove around in circles in the Broadmoor area for hours, trying to figure out how to get on Gold Camp Road to get to Cripple Creek.  (Of course you can’t by getting on Gold Camp north of the Broadmoor, because there’s a collapsed tunnel, but the maps didn’t tell us that, and the fog made it even more complicated!)

I guess the foggy days are so rare here that every time there is one, it brings back that memory!  It’s a good one, though, because that trip to Colorado was the one that made us decided that we really wanted to live here.
