It’s time for What To Make With What’s On Sale! Blueberries are on sale at most stores this week — find them at Albertsons for $1.99 (11 oz), at Safeway for $1.50 (6 oz), and at Sprouts for $0.99 (4.4 oz.) Also, Whole Foods is having a one-day sale today (Friday) on organic blueberries: $1.99 per pint.
What to do with all those cheap blueberries? Take a look at my blueberries post from 2011, and here are six additional recipe ideas for using fresh blueberries!
Here’s one of my go-to breakfast recipes, Buttermilk Blueberry Muffins. The buttermilk and lemon zest complement the sweetness of the blueberries, and the crunchy, sugary tops remind me of bakery muffins.
These simple-to-make Orange Glazed Blueberry Scones look yummy, too. I like that the instructions call for dropping the dough onto the baking sheet rather than rolling out and cutting the dough.

Here’s another simple recipe that’s easily modified, The Pioneer Woman’s Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie. The deep color of blueberries is great for masking green leafy veggies that you might slip into your kids’ smoothies!
This Blueberry-Almond Bruschetta looks delicious. Sliced and toasted baguette is spread with butter, sugar, and salt, then topped with blueberry preserves, blueberries, and sliced almonds. These would be great for a brunch or a baby shower!

This recipe for Pickled Blueberries calls for fresh blueberries soaked in red wine vinegar, sugar, and spices. The author suggests serving these as an appetizer spooned over ripened goat cheese.
Here’s an idea for using blueberries in a savory dish: Blueberry Dijon Chicken. Yum!
