I have a cousin who’s recently started using Sam’s Club’s Click n’ Pull service and has raved about it so much that I decided I needed to try it out myself.
Basically, you can place your Sam’s Club order on their website and have them pull all the items for you, then you go to the club, pay for your order, and they bring out your stuff and you’re done. You have to walk about ten steps in the store, and that’s it. It’s a free service, too!
I used to like grocery shopping, but somehow what used to be fun has turned into somewhat of a drudgery and I’m seriously looking for ways to streamline it right now. So, this week I tried Sam’s Club’s Click n’ Pull and while I’m not ready to say it has changed my life, I think it could.
I placed my order online on Thursday, thinking that it had to be placed by 5 PM the day before. It does, but what I didn’t realize was that you can schedule it for up to a week out – so, for instance, if I have time to place my order on Monday but don’t want to pick it up until Thursday, I can totally do that.
The disadvantage to that is that you can’t change your order once it’s been placed (at least I haven’t figured out how to), so when I realized I should have bought flour, I was out of luck. Then again, I suppose maybe I could have just placed another order…
Everything in the club is available on their website, with the exception of a few items that are sold by weight, such as Parmesan cheese. (Their website says “check store for pricing” and there’s not an option to add it to your cart.) But, they have a section for special instructions when you place you order, so I asked them to get me a block of cheese (I copied the exact brand name and told them the size didn’t matter). I wasn’t sure if they would add it or not, but they did. SCORE!
When I went to pick up the order, I had to wait a couple of minutes at customer service, and then just had to have them call to the back to bring up my order. They keep your refrigerated items in the cooler in a cart, and then your other items in a separate cart, so they’ll likely bring up two carts unless you just have all refrigerated or all non-refrigerated items.
I took the kids over to the snack bar and got a pizza for lunch while we waited, and I didn’t see them bring up my carts, so unfortunately I can’t say how long it took. However, my cousin told me it never takes them more than about ten minutes for her.
I definitely think I will be using Click n’ Pull again – I have a specific list of things I buy at Sam’s, so I really don’t need to browse the aisles. And, I love that you can save your list on their website and can just reorder from the list – it is going to be so easy to place my next order!
I’d be curious if any of you have used Click n’ Pull. Do you have any tips for me?
