We moved out of my in-law’s basement this week and it’s now post-disaster recovery time. In other words, we have attempted to put their basement back in some semblance of order after the hurricane that is our family of seven took it over for three months.
We were able to use the kitchenette in their basement, which was awesome, but 3+ months of cooking and not much in the way of cleaning left the grouted tile countertop looking pretty grungy. I tried scrubbing it a bit with a grout brush, but quickly saw that was going to take forever, so I Googled for help and read that OxiClean is supposed to work really well for cleaning grout.
And you guys, it totally does. I don’t have a before and after picture, but it totally restored the dirty grout from yucky brown to very close to its original off-white. And I didn’t even have to scrub. Score.
I just mixed the OxiClean with warm water, stirred it to dissolve, and then sort of spread it around the grout lines and let it set for fifteen or so minutes. Then I wiped it up and it looks very close to the color of the grout-that-we-didn’t-get-dirty. And I didn’t even have to scrub it!
