The other night I commented to Jeremy that a lot of people in our new neighborhood put up Christmas lights and he begrudgingly said, “Yeah, I know”. :) He says he’s going to do nothing for a few years and then spring up with the biggest display in the neighborhood. Which is probably pretty accurate – I know I just have to get his competitive juices flowing and eventually he will want to do it all of his own accord. ;)
The girls watched Molly – An American Girl on the Home Front the other day and when it was nearing the end, Jeremy walked in the room and my 6yo went up to him and said, “This is my favorite part of the movie because it’s when her daddy comes home!” It melted my heart when he told me that later, and I’m pretty sure that’s a memory he will treasure for a long time.
It finally warmed up enough yesterday to go sledding! We were excited to be joined by some friends who are here from out of town. I need to get some snow pants for myself – the jeans aren’t going to cut it when we have a really wet snow. I used to have a pair that I bought the year after I graduated high school, when I was slender enough to fit in a boy’s size large (and bought such because they were cheaper than women’s). Let’s just say that even if I was the same weight as I was then (definitely not), having five kids has rearranged my body a bit and boys’ pants are no longer an option! :)
The girls had hot chocolate in mini IKEA tea cups – so fun but man they require a lot of refills! :) Oh, and I keep forgetting to re-post my recipe for homemade marshmallows – here it is! I didn’t make them at all last winter and when I made them for the first time this year, I totally forgot how easy they are. Like anything, the first time or two it’s a little more intensive as you get used to the process, but now that I’ve made them a lot (and have a stand mixer now), it’s about ten minutes of active prep time.
