I think that children’s storybooks should come with some sort of a warning label when you have to read it with a British accent in order for the rhyming scheme to make sense, don’t you? I hate reading a book and realizing on the second line that the ending word “again” on the previous line should have had a long A in the second syllable.
Lately, I have been adjusting to lots of little and big changes in life and one of them has been the fact that cooking for seven people (all now very active eaters) is a lot of work. The work seems to have grown exponentially, something I either didn’t expect or never really thought about. Case in point:
Perhaps it’s not so much the amount of cooking that’s grown as it is the number of dishes!
Saturday was our church’s AWANA Grand Prix (similar to the Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby). Jeremy was in charge of the event this year and enjoyed pulling it all together, though he told me that next year if I want a car, I’m going to have to build it myself because organizing the race plus building cars for almost all of us was a little much. Of course, the only reason I even had a car this year is because he thought I should have one and built it for me. ;) The kids all did waaaay more work on their cars than I did – I just don’t get into it like they all do. This year, we had a Cinderella carriage, a covered wagon, a wagon with a dog in it, a dumpster, and two cars that were build for speed and not novelty. The only one that didn’t take home at least one prize was mine. Serves me right, I guess. :P
