You are missing out if you haven’t been to Fox Run Regional Park! This is one of our favorite places to go in the summer – it’s at higher elevation than the city, so it’s usually a little cooler, and there’s lots of shade. I think the best part is splashing in the “creek” that runs between the two ponds:
Fishing isn’t allowed in the ponds, but there are fish to watch, and crawdads, too. We like to take a picnic lunch and just relax by the ponds.
Fox Run also has a couple of great playgrounds, lots of open green space to kick a ball around, sand volleyball courts, picnic pavilions, and hiking trails. There are restrooms (yay!).
This is a really big part with several “main” sections, so if you are meeting someone there be sure to specify where to meet. And, your cell phone signal will quite likely be spotty in the park so make those “let’s meet in this very specific place” plans before you go. The address for the park is 2110 Stella Drive in Colorado Springs. You can find out more about the features of this park here.
