The free splash parks and play fountains in Colorado Springs will be opening soon! Here’s the info:
The Julie Penrose Fountain at America the Beautiful Park will open on May 26th and runs daily from 12-5 PM, with shortened hours starting in mid-August through the end of the season, which is Labor Day.
The Uncle Wilbur Fountain at Acacia Park opens on May 26th. It runs daily from 12-6 PM until August 11th, and then runs a modified schedule through Labor Day. Note: the city of Colorado Springs’ website (linked above) says it will open on the 26th, though the Friends of Uncle Wilbur organization says it will not open until June 2nd.
The splash area at First and Main Town Center is expected to open on Memorial Day (May 28th) this year, according to the center.
The splash pad at Aga Park in Fountain is a 4,000 square foot waterpark with areas designed for toddlers, families, and teens. It’s located at El Paso Street and Alabama Avenue in Fountain, and I called Fountain Parks and Recreation and found out that it opens on May 26th and is open from 9 AM to 9 PM. Update: I saw via Fountain Valley News that it’s supposed to open on Friday the 24th – not sure which is correct!
The Deerfield Hills Sprayground opens June 1st and is open through September 2nd. The hours are shortened in mid-summer so be sure to take note of that.
John Venezia Park’s Water Hole opens May 26th and runs daily through September 3rd, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
This one’s not free, but if you are headed to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (some zoo discounts and coupons here), be sure to stop by My Big Backyard inside the zoo for a cool mist!
