I’m hearing various places around the web that we’re in for another Mega Event at King Soopers this week – time to start getting those coupons organized!
Grocery Deals and Coupon Matchups for Colorado Springs
The grocery store sales in Colorado Springs run Wednesday-Tuesday. (At Sprouts, ad cycles run Wednesday-Wednesday with ads overlapping on Wednesday.) We generally publish the weekly grocery deals and coupon matchups for Albertsons, Sprouts, and King Soopers on Tuesday mornings. Safeway's weekly deals and coupon matchups are published on Wednesday morning.
King Soopers currently has Wholly Salsa 10/$10 -use the $1/1 coupon from a recent newspaper insert and get it FREE. Not sure when this unadvertised sale ends, I think it’s been going on a couple of weeks and I couldn’t find an end date.
Also, not free, but if you have any $1/2 or equivalent coupons for Nabisco cookies or crackers, King Soopers also has the Snack Saks of Barnum’s Animals, Teddy Grahams, and more for $1 – after coupon they’d be $.50 each. I’ve gotten these for free with $1/1 coupons, but I don’t think there are currently any out there.
I don’t have time to do a complete ad review this week, but here’s a couple of great deals at King Soopers:
Blueberries (6 oz) $1 – Great price, never see them this cheap!
Suave Deodorant $1 -Use the $.50/1 coupon from last week’s insert to get this for free (might be other coupons out there, too).
Hmm. Wasn’t that all you had on your grocery list this week? Blueberries and deodorant? Recipes, anyone?
The Falcon WalMart has 25 load jugs of Tide (original scent) for $5 – use the $1/1 coupon that came in a recent Proctor and Gamble insert to get it for four bucks! Not the cheapest you’ll ever pay for laundry detergent, but a great price for Tide. BTW, for comparison, *most* other laundry detergent comes in 30-32 load size, so this is slightly smaller.
A few deals at Safeway this week: just mentioning the things I know to be rock-bottom or close to rock-bottom prices. Please comment if you have more to add!
Blueberries (6 oz) or Blackberries (5.6 oz) $1.49 – King Soopers has blueberries cheaper this week, but this is a great price for fresh berries, even if 6 oz isn’t very much! Regular price is around $5.
8 lb Bag Navel Oranges $3.99 – Figures out to $.50/lb, great deal!
Sanderson Farms Whole Chicken Fryer $.79/lb – It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a sale on whole chickens! I’ve seen them as low as $.59/lb, but what other cut of meat can you get for under eighty cents per pound? Plus, it’s the Sanderson Farms brand, and if I recall correctly, they don’t pump their meat full of solution to keep it moist, so you’re actually getting a full pound of meat and bones, not 3/4 pound of meat and bones and 1/4 lb added water.
48 Hour Deals: good Saturday and Sunday ONLY
Golden Sweet Pineapple $1.99 – King Soopers had these for $1 a couple of weeks ago, but outside of that sale, this is a great price
DiGiorno Original Pizza $3.99 – A good price for name brand frozen pizza; keep in mind it’s limit two.
And finally, don’t forget to clip the coupon in the back of your ad for a free Tall tea beverage of choice at your in-store Starbucks stores! It expires 1/20/09. I’m thinking they might be noticing a shortage of extra ads this week – I know I’ll be grabbing a few extra ads when I stop in the store!
A reader emailed me to find out the cheapest place to buy $150 worth of Luvs diapers for a shower gift… and I have no clue! We typically buy whatever’s cheapest (with sales, rebates, and coupons I can usually get Huggies or Pampers cheaper than off-brand) but I’m at a loss when it comes to the best place to buy a specific brand such as Luvs! Here’s what I’ve told her so far:
Luvs only rarely puts out coupons in the newspaper, and occasionally Target will email a PDF coupon for Luvs diapers for use at Target only. Neither of these options are available right now. Target also sometimes does deals where you buy two packages or boxes and get a $5 gift card, but that’s not happening this week, either. I just checked and Sam’s Club and Costco don’t sell Luvs so those options are out.
My best guess is that it’s cheapest to go to WalMart and pay their every day low price, but *gasp* buy diapers at regular price without a coupon? Is that the best help I can offer?! The shame! So I’m asking you – anyone know how to get a better deal, or have the regular price at our local WalMarts and Targets floating around in their heads? Please help!!!
Been meaning to post about this, but Crystal beat me to it! You can get free Cottonelle toilet paper at King Soopers – read more here. We also just got an insert coupon for $.50/1 that could be used to get it free as well. The 4-pack is $.99 everyday at King Soopers. Shortcuts.com also frequently has a coupon for $.50/1 which makes it better than free, though I’m not seeing it as available to add to my card currently. (Could be because I’ve used that coupon recently.) Yay for free toilet paper!
Nothing too exciting in today’s Safeway ad, but a few things worth mentioning. Don’t forget about the other deals going on through Sunday.
Limitless Super Coupons, $10 minimum purchase required
Honey Nut Cheerios, Cheerios, or MultiGrain Cheerios $1.50 – Use $.55/1 printable coupon to get Cheerios for $.50 each. [I think this printable has now “expired” and isn’t available for printing anymore; hopefully you have some already printed!] I won’t typically pay more than $.50 a box for cereal (unless it’s Quaker Oatmeal Squares or something that’s actually *gasp* healthy). You can also print an $1/2 coupon here to get them for $1 a box. Or see my note at the bottom of this post about the buy 5 boxes of cereal save $5 instantly deal.
Red Delicious Apples 5 lb bag $2.95 – Fifty-nine cents a pound? Anyone feel like doing some canning?
JennieO Ground Turkey 20 oz $2.49 – I don’t buy ground turkey so I have no clue if this is a good price or not. But it might be.
Juice and Juice Drinks: Buy Any 5 Save $5 – Various brands participating. Ocean Spray juices are $1 each, or FREE with the $.55/1 coupon that just came out. Juicy Juice and Motts are two other participating brands that have coupons out. This deal was actually marked in-store, at least at my location.
Fuze Bottled Beverages $1 – You should be able to get this for free using $1/1 coupons that came in a special King Soopers flyer a couple of weeks ago. The coupons are manufacturer’s coupons so they should be able to be used at Safeway.
Bing Cherries $2.99/lb – I typically don’t buy these until they’re around $1/lb, but this is not a bad price for off-season cherries if they’re any good. Just remember they weigh a lot more than you think. :)
Russet Potatoes 8 lb bag $3.99 – Potatoes are cheaper at King Soopers this week, but this is an OK price. Personally I feel like the price of potatoes is right up there with gold lately.
I’ve been reading at Hot Coupon World about the Buy 5 Participating Cereals Save $5 Instantly deal. There were hangtags in the aisles at my store this morning, but no individual products were marked, with the exception of Kellogg’s NutriGrain bars. Listed on the hangtags were Quaker Life, Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, Post Honey Bunches of Oats, Kellogg’s Frosted MiniWheats, and GM Cheerios, with a note to see store for more participating products or something like that.
The cereals are SUPPOSED to be on sale for $2.50, so when you buy 5 and save $5 they’d be $1.50 before any coupons you may have. I, however, did not find any cereals that were marked $2.50 and the set of 5 cereals I tried (MiniWheats and Crispix) didn’t work for the $5 off.
I THINK this could be a really great deal if you buy Cheerios using the limitless super coupon as noted above, but I haven’t tried it and can’t say whether or not it’s working. This is why I have such a love/hate relationship with Safeway: they have some awesome deals, but rarely are they all tagged properly in-store and even if they are they don’t usually ring up right.
If you’ve tried this deal and had it work for you I know a lot of us would appreciate the information! Hmm, and is anyone else wondering what they’re gonna eat this week besides cereal and juice?
